Navigation Coverage

The map coverage for our line up of sat nav systems includes the whole of Europe, with no less than 7.5 million kilometres across 26 countries. Coverage areas include: Andorra Austria Benelux Czech Republic Denmark Finland France Germany Greece Hungary Ireland Italy Lichtenstein Monaco Norway Poland Portugal San Marino Slovakia Spain Sweden Switzerland The Vatican United Kingdom (incl. Northern Ireland) Our portable sat nav devices include coverage for 30 counties, which include all those listed above and Croatia, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey.

Points of Interest (POI)

A Point of Interest, or POI, is a specific location that you may find useful or interesting during your journey. Points of Interest are places like hotels, restaurants, petrol stations, tourist venues, parking lots; even cash machines. Our systems have a large amount of POI’s stored in memory. Certain POI’s, such as hotel chains or petrol stations, are displayed on the map with their specific company logos or with a 3D icon. For example, the Italian flags in the in the screen shot on the left represent Italian restaurants: You can search for a POI by name, category or via the Destination Search according to the city. This is helpful when trying to locate a hotel, store or even a golf course without an immediate address at hand. The Vicinity Search displays specific POIs in the surrounding vicinity. You can also search by cuisine-type restaurant listings.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is an industrial specification that provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, PCs, printers, digital music devices and game consoles over a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency. Bluetooth offers you the convenience of true wireless in car communication, without having to hook up your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to any other hands-free kit, headgear or earpiece. You won’t even have to take your mobile phone out of your pocket, handbag or briefcase. As long as your phone is in the car, it will be ready to be used via our Bluetooth Sat Nav systems. All the models in our Bluetooth range include a microphone.

TMC Traffic Info Receiver

TMC stands for Traffic Messaging Channel. Our system’s TMC receiver keeps you updated on current traffic events and suggest alternative routes. In countries where real-time TMC traffic information is broadcast (see the list below), the system indicates the traffic events on a map within a range of 150 kilometres and presents you with an alternative route in order to avoid the traffic event. A special menu function lists all the current traffic events in the area and even sorts them by ‘Distance’ or “event”.
